UNIT 8 PERSONAL PROJECT

WEEK 9 (17th May)

POST PRODUCTION

By now you should complete the production part of your project and dedicate this week to post production / editing of your piece. Whatever you have chosen to do for your personal project this week is dedicated to putting your creative project together into a final piece. It is very important that you show evidence of your post production process and give us an idea what skills and techniques you have used in its process. You will show important steps you have taken during post production by taking screen grabs and evaluating the editing process. You will also comment on feedback you have been given by your tutors and your peers and tell us what you have changed as a result of feedback given.

You will continue to write your weakly reflective logs and also will make sure that your e-portfolio is up to date and well supported by evidence of development of your project.

WEEK 7 and 8 (Week 3rd and 10th of May)

PRODUCTION OF THE PROJECT

You should allow yourself at least two weeks for the production of your project. During this time you should make sure to keep the production diary / notes of your production process. Take still images of the shooting location, cast etc. Evaluate daily your plan, what went well and what did not go according to original plan. Have your project changed much during production process and if it did tell us why. What was your plan B? You can show the communication ( screengrabs ) between people involved in the project, especially if things did not go according to plan. it is important to show how you managed your project and that you were in charge of its development.

WEEK 6 (26th April 2021)

PORTFOLIO

This week we will be looking at how to create, organize and keep up to date your Personal project E -portfolio. This is the template that you need to use for your personal portfolio portfolio. You need to download the document, save it on your college one drive ( T drive) and share the document with me. It will allow me to check the progress of your portfolio, give you comments and help you create a portfolio that meets all requirements of Unit 8 Personal project requirements.

This is the e- portfolio template:

See the source image

The main focus of this week is for you to concentrate on the research activities for your project. There are three main areas of research that you need to concentrate on this week, which are subject research: looking at and analyzing existing media products that are similar to what you are creating. You also need to identify and research your target audience and you need to look into skills and techniques required for your project. Please check week 2 power point for guidance on research plan and research activities you are expected to conduct.

PRE PRODUCTION PLANNING GUIDENCE AND DOCUMENTS

Pre production planning is a vital part of any creative project. It is absolutely essential that you plan your project well and also plan for unforeseen situations as well. Therefore we need to see that you considered plan B, in case things do not go according to plan.

This is a guidance to pre production planning:

This is pre production booklet that has all documents you will need for your project. We are not asking you to use and fill out the booklet but to copy and pace documents / sheets to your blog that are relevant to your project and its planning.

Next Wednesday you will be given a specific time slot on Teams and will present your idea to Rob and myself. In addition to this task you will continue to carry on research activities for your topic, target audience and skills and techniques required for your project.

WEEK 2 (29th March 2021)

REFERENCING YOUR WORK GUIDE ( HARVARD REFERENCE)

RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH

This week you will create a detailed research plan of all research activities you will take to inform yourself about your project. In my power point you will see 4 areas of research that you will need to plan to research. Those are: topic research, target audience, skills research and production planning research. As this is an initial stage of the project you will start with the mind map and brainstorm what possibly you can research to cover all four areas to inform yourself about your project. You will then use the research plan document that I have imbedded in the slide No: 4 and write your finalised plan. REMEMBER this is not research yet, just a plan of what are you going to research.

I have added some of the previous students work links in power point to give you some ideas of  what kind of research methods and techniques other students used and have done for their projects. Hopefully you will find this useful and not confusing as I am not asking you to start research yet, but just to get some inspirations for your project and research ideas.

TUESDAY:

PROJECT PROPOSAL

Once you have created your research plan, you will then work on your Final Major Project Proposal document. This document is important part of your project and requirement of UAL, so make sure all sections of the document are completed. You will find an example of written proposal by previous student, which should give you some ideas how to fill in each section of the document.

You will find proposal document here:

You will find project proposal guide here:

WEEK 1 (22nd of March 2021)

From this week you will start with your Personal Project or FMP. You will start with three following tasks:

  1. You will identify strengths within creative media
  2. You will identify skills you have gained within creative media
  3. You will explore possible ideas for your Final major project

Please follow the slides and look at the example of the past student’s work to guide your through this task.

You will have 10 weeks to complete this project and this is a timeline of  how you should plan and what you should do each week.

The final deadline is FRIDAY 28TH OF MAY (not to be missed) and I am sure if you follow my instructions and stick to the timeline you will be fine with the plenty of time to complete the project.

This is Unit 8 brief, which will give you an overview of the project. It is not a booklet for you to complete just a guide of the project. Please stick with weakly tasks and instructions we will give you every week.
